Studio Vivir is a company that was born out of a passion for sustainability- especially at the production level.
Every square meter of leather being produced consumes 22,730 Liters of water and produces toxic sludge that irreversibly damages the Eco-system. The environmental cost of every pair of jeans is 7,600 Liters of fresh water, every new T-Shirt you purchase costs the Earth 2,700 Liters of water.
Our challenge was making fashion forward, innovative and comfortable products without contributing to the carbon footprint fashion leaves on the Earth. The solution that we came p with is simple and straight forward-
Using Pre-Existing Material.
Our Sustainability project comprises of two ranges of products- Recycled and Upcycled.
The recycled range comprises of products made by deconstructing pre-existing products, strategically mapping patterns on the opened panels to make something new. While our upcycled range comprises of products made by utilizing tannery overstocks, using skins already available in the market instead of getting fresh material produced, this gives a greater flexibility design wise but the quantity of order remains limited as we are working with only what is already available.
